Salary £45,000 to £65,000 + Car Allowance + 25 Days Holiday + Pension

Blaymires Recruitment is representing a respected Civil Engineering Contractor based near Winchester who is searching for a Quantity Surveyor to join their growing business.

The company works closely with local authority, main contractors and private clients on a variety of projects that include, Drainage, Infrastructure, Groundworks, Waste Management and Foundations across the South with project values ranging up to £6M.

The company has a full order book going into 2022 and are looking for either a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor with Groundworks or Civil Engineering experience to join their growing business.

Key responsibilities:

• Measurement, pricing and evaluation of tenders.
• Manage the process from contract award through to final account agreement.
• Cost management / CVR reporting and forecasting.
• Reporting progress to senior management.
• Management and administration of sub-contractor accounts.
• Producing and submitting applications for payment.
• Experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors.
• Provide early cost advice to clients on variations, ensuring only authorised variations are undertaken.
• Understand construction issues, drawings and works.
• Ensure projects have all current drawings / up to date information to work from.
• Identify commercial risks and provide appropriate solution / response.
• Understand procurement and its impact on job cost / performance.
• Value completed work, ensuring timely payment / retention payments.

Requirements:

• Relevant Qualification (e.g.HNC / HND / Degree / Diploma) or equivalent.
• Relevant experience as a Quantity Surveyor (5yrs +).
• A background of working with sub-contractors in groundworks.
• Proficient computer skills particularly in Excel.
• General knowledge of contracts / contractual terms.
• General reasoning ability and ability to take on new concepts quickly and efficiently.
• Possess good skill with numbers and strong mathematical ability.
• Ability to gather and analyse information skilfully.
• Good negotiation skills.
