Assistant Buyer – Construction
Southampton
Salary up to £30,000 + Pension + 25 Days Holiday
Blaymires Recruitment is representing a leading refurbishment building contractor based near Southampton who is searching for an Assistant Buyer.
You will be joining a busy and successful procurement team and will report directly to the Senior Buyer. Ongoing training and development will be on offer.
Tasks & accountabilities:
- Purchase goods or services in line with required cost, quality and delivery targets.
- Validate requests, prepare and raise purchase orders, communicate as required.
- Work with Project Managers to raise orders on time. ID risks and push to resolve.
- Manage the sending out of outstanding order books weekly and ensure prompt return.
- Maintain parts database, receipting of goods and services and approve supplier register.
- Contribute to approval process of new suppliers.
- Maintain supplier info including ensuring insurances, certs and other credentials are current and relevant.
- Deal with invoice queries and address any issues within the supply chain.
- Build & maintain relationships between procurement and its internal customers and suppliers with good service, efficient and helpful communication.
- Attend sites periodically.
- Assist with ad-hoc tasks within the Purchasing Department such as including accommodation booking and fleet management.
The Candidate
- Administration or procurement experience working within the Construction or Materials sector.
- Will have excellent IT and administration skills
- You will be a team player, proactive and adaptable, who can problem solve and challenge where necessary.
