Profile

An experience construction professional with a proven track record in managing and pricing new build, refurbishment, historical restoration and groundwork projects.  With an in-depth practical knowledge, he can plan, program and estimate projects using first principles.

With knowledge of pricing projects up to the value of £3 million he is able to produce BOQ’s, enquiries for both sub-contractors and suppliers build up rates for labour only and directly employed operatives, produce prelims, tender programs and produce a complete estimate for adjudication.

I am currently carrying out the above duties on a freelance basis providing support to the existing pre-construction department of a local contractor who carries out a wide range of contracts including new build, refurbishment and historical restoration varying in values from 25k to 3 million.

I provide a complete service compiling BOQ’s, enquiries for both sub-contractors and suppliers build up rates for labour only and directly employed operatives, produce prelims, tender programs and produce a complete estimate for adjudication.

In addition, I provide support to both a Groundwork and Carpentry Sub Contractor on an adhoc basis.

We also provide Pre-Tender estimates and advise on prospective projects for a Local Consultant.

Working out of the Basingstoke office to provide and collate tender submissions including BOQ production, ensuring the required documentation was available from different sources when required managing sub-contractor and material enquiries assisting in PQQ etc. and ensuring all information was available for adjudication and submission.

Primarily working on the large contracts which included the construction of new changing facilities, construction of a new car park, structural works to sea damaged steel frame buildings all at Butlins Bognor Regis.

Construction of a new factory in Christchurch which required on site design of the drainage and installation of a pumping station to alleviate existing foul water levels, piled, ground beam foundations and a reinforced power floated structural slab with a clad portal frame superstructure.

My Main duties included BOQ production, sub-contract and material scheduling, rate build ups from first principle for contracts carried out by directly employed staff  dealing with enquiries valuation and final account for the groundworks division, we generally worked on private and commercial infrastructure work, providing drainage, gas, water, electrical, civil support work on hospitals and colleges prior to installation of new services, including construction of ducts pits transformer bases, mast bases for Vodafone and three etc. Project up to £500k

A local Sub Contractor specializing in commercial groundwork contracts for several tier 1 contractors including, Mansell, Kier, Amiri, Waring’s etc. My main duties were compiling estimates from enquiries scheduling labour, plant and material, measuring and valuing works on site etc.

Contracts completed included:

MRC Building Southampton General Hospital, BUPA Hospital Clare Park Reading, Residential Care Home Brighton, master block Lord Treloare College Alton.

1999 – 2002      Estimator/Surveyor/Contracts Manager   MCM Construction

I was responsible for a number of large projects for this Isle of Wight Contractor including full management of the groundwork element of the construction of 6 blocks of flats with associated infrastructure and highways work, major civils work to provide a spa at a hotel and numerous groundwork contracts on the island, managing both sub contract and directly employed labour programming works, material procurement etc.

I was one of two members of staff for the estimating, measurement, compilation of interim and final accounts for a various highways, civil engineering and groundwork projects. Typical examples of which were alterations to highways, construction of cycleways, main sewer connections and general groundworks.
