Salary up to £25,000 + 20 Days Holiday + Pension 

Blaymires Recruitment is representing a family run building contractor based in Poole, Dorset who is searching for a Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join the business. The company has a long tradition of building high quality projects ranging from high-end new-build houses, bespoke refurbishments, extensions, alterations, refurbishments to school buildings, church halls and commercial projects.

Due to a sustained period of growth, they are looking for a Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial department.

The Candidate:

The company will consider a construction graduate who is educated to the level of HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent who is looking to start their career in Quantity Surveying.  

Whilst possessing a qualification or having experience would be an advantage, fair consideration and training will be given to a candidate who is able to demonstrate their ability and eagerness to develop the necessary skills quickly to grow into the role.

Key Tasks

· Assist with compiling and tendering of subcontract and supplier packages.

· Assist with the placing and management of subcontract and supplier order packages.

· Assist with both on-site and drawing based measurement to produce quantities for material ordering and checking of invoices.

· Assist in the preparation of and invoicing of monthly client valuations.

· Assist the commercial department in the daily tasks relative to running of numerous construction projects.

· Assist in the monthly checking of sub-contractor and supplier invoices to ensure agreed costings and rates and issue approval of payment.

· General administration to assist in efficient running of busy commercial department.

Key Skills

· Be friendly but professionalism is of paramount importance.

· Be able to communicate effectively.

· Well organised and possess a methodical approach.

· IT skills including Outlook, Word, Excel and Dropbox.

· Ability to build strong relationships internally and externally.

· An appreciation of commercial awareness.

· Possess enthusiasm and initiative.
