Technical Author

TECHNICAL AUTHOR 

SALARY UP TO £60,000 + CAR ALLOWANCE OR DAY RATE 

A leading façade Consultancy firm based near Southampton are searching for a Technical Author to join their business in early 2021. 

With a phenomenal reputation within the Façade remediation sector, they work closely with their clients to understand and manage cladding combustibility risk, defects and remedial issues.

They are presently working with a range of clients from social housing providers, landlords, private consortiums and management companies.

The Cladding / Façade remediation sector is rapidly growing. The consultancy offers an interesting and long-term opportunity either on a freelance or permanent basis.  

They are a flexible employer and offer remote working with visits to the head office in Southampton.

This role would suit a Façade Expert, Construction Technology Lecturer, Technical Author or Quality Assurance Manager with construction experience who is interested in learning and working within the Cladding / Façade sector.

THE ROLE: 

• As Technical Author you will be responsible for reviewing reports that the in-house building surveying team produce, comment, and give guidance when required.
• You will ensure that the specified cladding and façade remediation materials are in line with government guidelines.
• You will provide technical advice to the team members and senior management team.
• You will keep abreast of relevant developments relating to the technical and safety aspects of the Façade remediation sector.

ABOUT YOU: 

• Graduate level or equivalent construction industry experience.
• A sound working knowledge of the technical requirements of external façades. 
• Meticulous attention to detail and will possess proficient written and oral communications skills.
• A sound working knowledge of current regulations, industry standards and codes of practice.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of technical experts in the Façade sector.
• Ability to interpret technical standards, best practice guides to draft, edit and produce technical reports.
• Proficient IT skills – familiarity with the use of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
• An enquiring mind with an interest in technical innovation within the sector.
• Attention to detail and a proactive approach to work.
• Willing attitude and readiness to take on new challenges.
• Commercially aware.
