Blaymires Recruitment is working with a Civil Engineering contractor based in Portsmouth who is searching for a Junior Quantity Surveyor to join the team.

The company operates as a principal contractor and undertakes a variety of Civil Engineering and Groundworks projects for clients across the commercial and residential sectors with values ranging up to £5 Million.

The company is going through an exciting period of growth and is looking for a Junior Quantity Surveyor to join the team.

The company will consider either a Graduate Quantity Surveyor, Trainee Quantity Surveyor, Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Junior Quantity Surveyor who is looking for a long-term opportunity to grow with the business.

This is a fantastic opportunity as you will work alongside a Senior Quantity Surveyor who will offer support and guidance.

Responsibilities will include:

• Work alongside Senior QS.
• Provide estimated costs of proposed projects and survey/cost completed works.
• Prepare detailed forward plans of work commitments and appropriate labour requirements.
• Liaise with departmental staff, client departments, contractors, suppliers and statutory authorities in matters relating to work as appropriate.
• Monitor and control the day-to-day finance of all estimated contracts, up to and including production of final accounts.
• Order and ensure that materials, equipment and plant detailed in specifications and drawings for construction or improvement work are ordered in accordance with tendering procedures.
• Attend meetings, seminars, training workshops and other work-related issues, as required, which may involve working outside normal hours.
• Liaise with specialists and consultants as appropriate to obtain assistance and advice.

Qualifications and key skills required:

• Experience working within Groundworks sector would be an advantage.
• Be commercially astute.
• Possess excellent communication skills.
• Be able to work well within a team environment.
• Be ambitious and determined.
• Be able to work with project values of £5 Million.
• Knowledge on the use of Microsoft project (or similar) is desirable.
