A family run building contractor based near Fareham is searching for an Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join the business. They are a friendly and professional contractor who enjoys a high level of repeat business and undertakes projects for local councils, private individuals and insurance organisations.

The company has been operating across the South for the past 30 years and has built up a reputation for successfully delivering building restoration, refurbishment and new build projects ranging up to £1 million.

With their workload increasing they are looking for a motivated Estimator / Surveyor who can price using first principles as well as manage the project costs through to final account.

They will consider an advanced Assistant or Intermediate Estimator or Quantity Surveyor who is open to performing a dual role.

The Role

• Responsible for pricing new enquiries and winning new contracts.
• Responsible for managing project costs, saving money where applicable.
• To keep a tight control of variations on site, record all variations, pricing them and accurately recording their effect on final accounts.
• Manage allocated projects, packages and subcontractors, calculation and preparation of all company valuations and assist with final accounts.
• Preparation and presentation of monthly job cost analysis data.
• Analyse current methods and procedures and develop improved methods of working.
• Organise, order and manage subcontract orders, applications and assist with subcontract enquiries and management.
• Assist in establishing a client’s requirements and undertaking feasibility studies.

The Person

• Minimum 5 years’ experience working as a building Estimator or Quantity Surveyor.
• Must be able to price.
• HNC or Degree qualified.
• Good knowledge of JCT forms of contracts.
