Blaymires Recruitment is representing a respected main contractor based in the new forest near Lymington who is searching for an Estimator to join the business.
The company has developed, over the past 20 years, into one of the most reputable Chartered building firms within Hampshire and Dorset. They specialise in bespoke new homes, residential refurbishments and commercial developments with projects ranging in value from £50k – £3m.
They are looking for an experienced Estimator or Estimator/Surveyor to join their established management team. You will have technical knowledge and an eye for detail and will be responsible for tendering construction projects accurately and professionally.
Duties include:
- Reviewing and submitting tender documentation.
- PQQ submissions, when applicable.
- Developing and managing relationships with suppliers and subcontractors and acquiring competitive quotes.
- Performing material take-offs from plans.
- Attending client site visits in a polite and professional manner.
- When tender successful and as required; assist with preparing the project set-up and handover to the Project Manager.
- Managing the database of enquiries.
- Promoting and exploring ways to source new lines of procurement.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience within the construction industry, ideally within both residential and commercial sectors.
- Experience of projects, including small works and ranging up to £5m
- Excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
- A collaborative and team-minded approach.
- Strong IT skills including being proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products, especially Word and Excel. CAD, Bluebeam Revu and Aster project planning, or similar, would be beneficial.
- Confident communicator with a professional telephone manner.
- A can-do attitude and positive approach to a varied and adaptable role.
- Good attention to detail with excellent presentation skills.
- Highly organised, motivated, loyal and able to work autonomously.
- Contributing to compiling tender bid list.
- Developing an understanding of drawings and specifications.
- Developing a detailed knowledge of the company estimating system.
- Attending interviews and post tender discussion meetings.
