Blaymires Recruitment is representing a leading maintenance and refurbishment contractor who is searching for a Commercial Manager.
The business undertakes a wide variety of planned and refurbishment works for social housing providers and commercial and MoD clients. Their work is won by competitive tender as well as using Schedule of Rates.
The Commercial Manager will manage a team of six Quantity Surveyors and will lead all commercial activities and will report to the Branch Manager and will lead the pricing of contracts.
This role would suit either a Senior QS who is looking to take a step up or an existing Commercial Manager who is looking for a long-term opportunity. It is an office-based role however, home working will be encouraged.
The Role
- Manage the day-to-day work and training of all trainees, Surveyors and other employees controlled within branch, ensuring productivity.
- Ensure that tenders are progressed to provide an accurate basis for pricing and to allow sufficient time for the Branch Manager / Commercial team to give them proper consideration.
- Meet and exceed forecasts for profit & WIP targets.
- Monitor the weekly and monthly cost information and ensure the accurate production of monthly valuations.
- Maintain strong relationships with customers to retain and grow existing contracts and identify opportunities that could lead to new business.
- Exercise commercial judgment to protect the company from financial or other loss.
- Maintain a site presence and ensure commercial information is a true reflection of the position on site.

- Previous experience of managing a variety of contracts successfully and having knowledge of the financial and contractual controls required on a contract.
