Blaymires Recruitment is representing a respected fit-out contractor based near Aldermaston, Berkshire who is searching for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their business.

The company has been operating for 20 years and have built a reputation for delivering fit-out and refurbishment services to a variety of commercial, retail, industrial, leisure and public sector clients with project values ranging up to £600k.

The company is entering a sustained busy period and requires an Assistant Quantity Surveyor who can run their own small projects with support from the Commercial Manager.

You will Ideally have estimating/quantity surveying experience of all works involved in office/commercial/scientific refurbishments, interior fit-outs (ceilings/partitions), strip out and refurbishments of bare buildings.

The Role

• Responsible for managing all costs, saving money where applicable.
• To keep a tight control of variations on site, record all variations, pricing them and accurately recording their effect on final accounts.
• Manage allocated projects, packages and subcontractors, calculation and preparation of all company valuations and assist with final accounts.
• Preparation and presentation of monthly job cost analysis data.
• Analyse current methods and procedures and develop improved methods of working.
• Organise, order and manage subcontract orders, applications and assist with subcontract enquiries and management.
• Assist in estimating and establishing a client’s requirements and undertaking feasibility studies.

Knowledge and Skills and Personal Profile:

• Minimum 2 years practical estimating/QS/commercial experience, ideally with a main contractor.
• Degree/ RICS qualified or qualified by experience.
• Experience of NEC3/NEC4 contracts would be beneficial.
• Excellent verbal and written skills.
• Confident working independently and as part of a busy, driven team focused on quality.
• Able to work confidently and professionally with clients, Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, contractors, sub-contractors, suppliers.
• Builds positive working relationships with colleagues, clients and potential clients.
• Able to prioritise and work to deadlines/service level agreements.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Strong numerical and IT skills including database experience.
• Methodical with attention to detail.
• Willing to put in the extra effort when it is needed and without being asked.
• Enthusiastic and passionate about every job.
• Hold a valid driving licence and be happy to travel to London.
