Blaymires recruitment is representing an established main contractor based near Portsmouth who is searching for a Senior Estimator to join the business.
The company undertakes new build, refurbishment and fit-out projects across the private and public sectors with project values ranging up to £30M.
The company works across a wide spectrum of sectors including Education, Facade Remediation, Commercial, Industrial, MoD and Residential.
Due to a period of planned growth, they are looking for either an Estimator or Senior Estimator with main contracting experience, who is looking for a long-term opportunity to grow with the business.
As Estimator / Senior Estimator, your duties will include:
- Preparing work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
- Identifying labour, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
- Computing costs by analysing labour, material, and time requirements.
- Resolving discrepancies by collecting and analysing information.
- Presenting prepared estimates by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
- Preparing special reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising information and trends.
- Maintaining cost database by entering and backing up data.
The ideal Estimator will have:
- Experience tendering projects valued up to £10M.
- Experience tendering schemes independently and within a team.
- Experience of doing your own take offs.
- Able to use an estimating computer package such as Conquest would be an advantage.
- Appropriate academic and construction qualifications, detailed knowledge of construction in both new and refurbishment work.
- The candidate must be able to confidently communicate with all members of the pre-construction team, Directors, clients and consultants.
